Introduction

Every day, we devote part of our time to time-consuming activities for which we do not really see the added value. These activities have a name: MUDAS (Japanese word meaning waste).

Nobody likes MUDAS

MUDAS are irritants that undermine employee morale, frustrate customers and hamper company performance. As no one has time to waste, there is consensus on the hunt for MUDAS.

The approach we have developed guarantees rapid results because a large number of MUDAS can be eliminated through rapid and decentralized actions. The root cause analysis approach also makes it possible to identify structural actions.

The MUDAS hunt takes place in several stages:

  1. The first step is to define the scope and choose the participants
  2. Participants answer a questionnaire to identify MUDAS
  3. All MUDAS are described, analyzed and sorted to define priorities
  4. Objectives are deployed to eliminate priority MUDAS
  5. Goal owners propose an action plan (aided by AI)
  6. Rituals are organized to monitor actions and measure results

A hunt for MUDAS breaks down silos and strengthens ties between employees. It can also strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers if you choose to involve them.

This questionnaire provides an overview of step number 2: identifying and describing MUDAS.

This question serves to identify the processes that are most confronted with the presence of MUDAS.

Experience shows that MUDAS like interfaces (between processes, between tools, between organizations, etc.). They take advantage of complexity and vagueness to hide and thrive.

Here is a list of some macro-processes.

Select 1 to 3 processes that seem to you to harbor particularly voracious MUDAS.

The MUDAS hunt is based on a simple approach: involve all those affected by the change and invite them to share what they observe and what they think in order to then identify opportunities, define priorities, set objectives, carry out actions and measure the impacts.

This methodology can be applied to a wide variety of cases.

Thank you for the time and the seriousness that you devoted to this exercise. The analyzes are accessible to all participants and I invite you to go and see the MUDAS posted by your colleagues to comment on them and LIKE them.

You will soon be invited to a restitution of the analysis of the results and we will take the opportunity to sort out the opportunities and define priorities together. This challenge is only the first step: the best is yet to come ;-)

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate!
